Show 'n' Shine Judging Criteria

A note from The Toyota Nationals Board

"It’s very difficult to have a hard and fast formula to follow, at the end of the day we feel its better to be judged by your peers, as they’ll know what they’re looking at. So here is a general idea of what your judges will be looking for.

Please remember we always make allowances for the fact that just about all of your cars have been driven some very long distances and this is NOT a concourse event.

Interior

- Overall cleanliness
- Vacuumed carpets/flooring/seats
- Condition of interior.
- Theme (mainly for modified & completely retimed)
- Fitment & line-up of dash, gauges

Of course allowances are made for your original vs. modified vs. a new car.

Exterior

- Overall cleanliness- Chrome shined (where applicable and if it can be)
- Clean glass
- Wheels and tyres cleaned
- Condition of paint (rust, fading, stone chips) again allowances are made for original class vs. modified vs. new
- Panel fit and alignment

Engine Bay

- Overall cleanliness (allowances are made for the trip you just made)
- Tidiness (overall and modified)
- Theme (where applicable)

This is a very general guideline to what we ask the judges to look at, please remember that we do make allowances for distances travelled. No matter what criteria you use someone will always feel disadvantaged but those who have taken the extra effort should be rewarded. Year after year cars lose points for owners failing to clean them. OK, most have to drive a long way but those who decide to be up to midnight or out of bed at 6am to detail their car should be rewarded."

Thanks,

The Toyota Nationals Board
